Whether you want to frame an old favorite photo or a newly purchased poster, it is important that you buy a good quality frame that enhances the beauty of the image. At Posterton, we are professionals in frames and hanging, and can say from experience that all pictures and posters look better with a frame around them.
In our wide range of photo frames, picture frames and picture frames, you are guaranteed to find a suitable frame for your photo, picture or poster. Our frames are available in most sizes and can be obtained in a variety of beautiful materials and designs.
Which measurement should I choose for my frame?
When it comes to buying frames, it is important that you choose a frame with the right dimensions. We have picture and picture frames in a large variety of different sizes and dimensions - all to provide the best conditions to enhance the experience of your picture, picture or poster.
Choosing a frame that's too big for your image will look crazy, assuming you don't intend to use a passepartout. In such cases, you have a little more freedom when it comes to the size of the frame.
If you buy a frame that is too small, you will have to cut the picture to make it fit, and this is not something we recommend.
The very best thing is to choose a frame that fits perfectly with your poster, painting or picture. Posters are often printed in standard dimensions, such as 30 x 40 cm or 50 x 70 cm. If you order a poster from Posterton, you can be sure to find a frame in the right size with us. If it is an old poster or a photograph you are going to frame, just measure the picture with a tape measure or a ruler. Our frames are available in sizes from 13 x 18 cm up to 70 x 100 cm. If you want to frame a nice drawing that your child has done at preschool, we also have frames in A4 format.
Before you order a frame, you also need to decide how wide your frame strip should be. Some like thick moldings that accentuate the image. Others prefer a thin and discreet frame strip that does not steal too much focus from the subject itself.
Frames in different colors and materials
We offer a wide selection of frames for all tastes and style ideals. Here you will find everything from classic metal frames, to black and white wooden frames and classic oak frames. Our metal picture and photo frames are available in the colors gold, silver, copper and black metallic.
Classic wooden frames are as decorative as they are timeless. Whether you want to frame a photo or a poster, a wooden frame will bring out the best in every picture. Our e-frames are ideal for all types of interior design and fit particularly well on white walls in rooms with a lot of light.
We also have wooden frames in black and white designs. A black wooden frame is perfect when you want to focus on what you have chosen to hang on the wall. If it is a bright motif, it will be a nice and eye-catching contrast with a black frame. If it is about a darker motif, the black wooden frame becomes more like a discreet and stylish complement.
White wooden frames go particularly well with colorful pictures and paintings hung against a darker wall, wooden wall or wallpaper. If you have white walls at home, the outlines of a white wooden frame can easily disappear in all the light. But if it's done right, it can be a nice touch of style in your interior.
Posterton's metal frames are as beautiful as they are durable. Choose between different sizes of strips and different colors. Our metal frames are made of aluminium, which provides both high resistance and low weight.
Gold frames are perfect when you want to add an exclusive touch to your home, and work just as well with a dark as a light interior. A gold frame is especially popular for personal photos such as wedding photos, pictures of children and grandchildren, but is equally suitable for photographic art, as well as for classic paintings by masters such as Rembrandt, Leonardo da Vinci and Monet.
For those of you who want a slightly more muted style, our silver frames are a safe choice. At Posterton you buy frames in nickel silver, which is an alloy of copper, zinc and nickel and has a nice shiny surface. Silver is a so-called cold metal that gives a sophisticated frame to your art.
Copper and brass frames are perfect for homes with darker interiors with teak and mahogany furniture. Copper has a reddish hue that reflects the light in a warm and elegant way. Our copper frames are perfect for framing old charts, photos, beautiful woodcuts and other things that exude tradition, education and sophisticated taste.
Finally, we also have photo frames in black metal. These are for those who want a more shiny finish than a black wooden frame. A black metal frame is an excellent all-round frame that works just as well for photos as it does for art prints and graphic prints.
Choose a picture frame that suits the subject
Some claim that framing pictures is a complete science, but in our opinion, it's hard to fail. At least with our stylish and affordable frames. If you just go with your gut, it will be right in most cases, and if it goes completely crazy, you have a 14-day right to cancel.
There are many ways to think when choosing a frame. Some people like to color match the frame with the rest of their decor. Others instead choose to look more closely at the motif itself and start from an accent color from the painting. You can do exactly what you want, most of the time it will be as good as it gets. The only thing that can vary is the actual feeling that the picture frame highlights.
If you really want to emphasize the image, you can use a passepartout. This is a paper frame that is placed inside the glass and makes it more airy between the frame and the image, which leads to the subject being more in focus. Another advantage of using passepartout is that the image is not directly against the glass, which prevents it from getting stuck and damaged.
Photo frames, picture frames or frames?
Photo frames and picture frames have in common that they always have a glass sheet (usually plexiglass or acrylic glass) that protects the image. Picture frames, on the other hand, can consist of a simple or ornate wooden frame around a canvas or panel. However, the term picture frame is also used for picture and photo frames.
At Posterton, all frames come with acrylic glass that is impact resistant and protects your art, photos and posters from fading or exposure to moisture and stains. The frames are also made in a way that makes it easy for you to open and replace records or photographs, without having to resort to tools like screwdrivers or pliers.
Frames that are hung horizontally and vertically
Paintings can either be hung vertically or horizontally. If they hang askew, they hang wrong and then it's just for you to go there and correct them. For some motifs, such as some abstract paintings, it can sometimes be difficult to decide which way it should be hung. In most cases, a simple Googling can give you the answer in which direction the painting should hang.
All our frames have brackets that allow them to be hung both vertically and horizontally. This means you can reuse them for all kinds of images and posters. Smart huh?
When it comes to hanging art, you need to make sure that the screw, nail or hardware can support the weight of the painting. The type of mount you need depends on the material of the wall and how much the artwork weighs.
Gypsum walls are the type of wall that can handle the least weight. For these types of walls, it is wisest to use an expander plug. If it is a smaller frame, an ordinary screw may suffice. But keep in mind that screws leave ugly holes, so you need to be sure where you want the painting to hang.
