How to
Plan your gallery wall.
A gallery wall is both expressive and decorative and can bring a whole room to life. So take some extra time to plan it so it turns out just as you imagined!
To create the most thoughtful and appealing gallery wall possible, it's important to plan before you start drilling, hammering, or gluing. One tip is to first lay out the pictures on the floor in the layout you envision for the wall they'll hang on. This will give you a better idea of whether the wall has enough space for the gallery and which layout suits it best.
Often, one or two pictures are enough to fill the empty space on the wall in the dining room or above the dresser in the hallway, but sometimes that little extra is needed. If you want a focal point that sets the tone for the decor and makes the room feel thoughtful and inviting - then a gallery wall is exactly what you need.
To achieve the desired result, it might be wise to plan a little and decide how you want your posters to hang and what layout and size you want for your gallery wall. Whether you want to hang them above the sofa, bed, or on an entirely empty wall, it's wise to first measure the wall and see how much space you have available. Then lay out the pictures in front of you and place them in combinations and formations that suit your taste. Use a large piece of paper or an old sheet to draw up the desired layout for the poster board so you can easily hang it on the wall and know exactly where to put the nails. If you have a projector at home, you can set up the layout on the wall to make it even easier.
Then you can hang up your beautiful new gallery wall!
